The Viridian Design Movement
was the brainchild of Bruce Sterling at the turn of the last millennium. I had been a fan of Sterling since reading his book Islands in the Net
in 1987. I heard of Sterling directly from William Gibson. It was in La Jolla, California in a long-since-closed bookstore where Mr. Gibson was reading and promoting his book Mona Lisa Overdrive
. As part of his “design movement” he announced “contests” and I was delighted to use the then-new web to publish my entries.
