Blade Runner is brutal and ambiguous. This essay on seeing it for the first time: it’s right on. This take is more critical than I was for the first 10 years of loving Blade Runner. At some point I could see that a cop tasked with killing a bunch of people is a really strange story to decide to tell.
Blade Runner has been my favorite movie, or at least in my top 5 movies, for 32 years. I’ve only really understood it in the past decade.
