Office Hours

I’m an expert about websites. I have worked on every kind of website. I have worked making software for a long time.

My calendar is open each week for video calls with whoever books a time. I’ll start with Tuesdays.

You can book 30 minutes in my calendar here. No agenda required, no need to mail first.

This is an experiment.

Why, this? A few decades ago I had a boss who described me in a pitch meeting as “Google on Legs.” She meant it as a compliment. Around that time I wanted to put an ad in the San Diego Reader for an event I would call “Ask Joe.” The idea was to go to a coffee shop, sit with my laptop, and meet with whomever signed up to ask me web questions. I am an expert, it might be interesting. I never followed through on the idea. Matt Webb’s Unoffice Hours idea has inspired me to revive this idea.

Good things can come from people just showing up to chat about a topic. In 2024 I started running an event called Front End Study Hall. Folks coming together to improve websites by studying HTML and CSS together. Office Hours aren’t that but it feels related.
