PMR Bag and Resuscitation Bag, 1992

PMR Bag and Resuscitation Bag, 1992
Drawing from 1992, when I was still working as a respiratory care practitioner

The PMR bag (left) goes directly to a wall outlet giving out 50 psi (I think) of pressure. It’s actually pretty easy to use. Just squeeze and it gives a breath, then autoinflates. The material of the bag is a semi-rigid plastic. Right adjacent to the bag toward the patient is a pressure popoff valve, which is adjustable.

The non-self-inflating bag (right) is a black rubber “bag” that you squeeze to get air out, it is filled from the oxygen line that feeds it. There is a stainless steel adjustable valve toward the patient-end of the bag which regulates flow. This type of resuscitation bag takes a bit of time to learn and get used to.
