That’s Peyton behind me. She and her friend Margaret wanted someone “who knows what they’re doing in the water” to be with them so they could swim out to the end of Crystal Pier (872 feet long). I followed along. They swam great. I told them so. Last year I had a surfer tell me he thought I was a sea lion. Today I was an emotional support dog. But truly? The lifeguards were on duty. I will write more about this and my other water adventures soon.

That’s really cool! I hope you enjoyed this − and even more importantly I hope they did and were proud of themselves because it can’t be easy to do this distance in open water if they’re not used to it!

Wondering if those sea critters enjoy teasing surfers. I was out for an early evening session way back in the day, but there were only a few surfers out in the water because of the kelp overrun at that time. While sitting on my board waiting for a ride, I floated too close to a bed, and a few feet away a seal or sea lion popped its head up through the kelp and scared the daylights out of me! 😄️
