When New Orleans was the Capital of the Spanish Province of Luisiana 1762-1803 This street bore the name “Calle de Borbon.” (New Orleans being simultaneously Spanish, French, Caribbean, American also makes it feel like home).

I remember crossing the Mississippi on one of these bridges — when it was two-way. They built a second span in the late 80s. It feels strange to be a driver on the bridge. I was only ever a passenger in a giant ~’73 Chevy Caprice. Pretty sure my parents bought that car from my Great Uncle Ray. Long time has passed but, partly, New Orleans still feels a little like home.
