The most interesting and peculiar photos I take are when the video stays on inadvertently. Big waves and rip currents and outgoing waves and more rips. Very enjoyable session.

The accessibility ramp on the sand is back. In the water I met a surfer from Brazil by way of L.A.. A fine mellow session.

Went to OB this morning and rode waves with bodysurfers and bodyboarders and Jeff who was riding a random piece of square plywood he found the week before. He was shredding on it.

Me. July, 2008. San Francisco. BlogHer. Instead of attending the conference with my wife of the time I tooled around San Francisco. This is on my mind because I learned today that Heather “Dooce” died yesterday. Heather spoke at BlogHer’08 and was at the time in the whirlwind of being perhaps the most well-known blogger on the planet. She was surrounded by people every time I glimpsed her, then. Mental health is hard to maintain; harder still with the pressure of entertaining an audience. Deepest condolences to everyone rocked by the tragic news of her passing. And if you’re struggling: reach out, there’s help out there. RIP Heather.

Star Wars Droid montage. I don’t claim to understand how Star Wars got a holiday but I’m belatedly acknowledging May 4th. Thank the maker!
