“While the internet might tell you that the refractive index of water is 1.33, it is actually a function of the wavelength of the light, as well as the salinity, temperature, and pressure of the water.” Also I look psychedelic underwater.

My return to the Jetty today was punctuated by the appearance of two dolphins cruising by. Once again I have no photographic proof. Getting my sea legs back after Monday’s stingray barb.

Morning bodysurfing session at South Mission Jetty interrupted by the need for my brand new Stingray Emergency Response Kit. Inadequate foot shuffling. Calling my doctor, I think I need to go in. Got some of the lil’ ray’s barb out but I’m no surgeon. HURTS! My first time. And how’s your Monday going?

The cartoon seal mold is a new acquisition. My sister calls me a “scavenger” because I pick up random abandoned or trashed stuff. Guilty.

On the afternoon of July 5th I lost my phone while bodysurfing. Today, 68 hours later and 0.35 miles north it was found tangled in seaweed in the water. It was so tangled it had to be cut out of the case. In the meantime I used my older phone and got a new case and waterproof envelope. It defied the odds and I’m a lucky son of a gun and my phone is back and faith in people and in the sea is renewed. #stoke

I lost my phone in the water this afternoon at PB. These birds are unrelated—from Sunday morning. I’ll replace the phone soon. I wonder if it will wash up onto the shore? Time will tell.
